Leading by Example

Leading by Example” is the official youth education program for university students and young professionals worldwide. By attracting students and young professionals from diverse academic and professional backgrounds it aims at inspiring and educating the future peace makers.

At the core of the program there is the idea that peace can be accomplished through education, culture and exchange of experiences. Since its foundation in 2012, the program has attracted
bright students pursuing studies in the fields of politics, social business, ecology, arts and sciences, education, medicine, and law, among other academic areas.

All year-round students participate to educational activities and workshops focused on human rights, non-violence, peacebuilding, sustainability, and social activism.
The workshops are led by Nobel Peace Laureates, academics, non-profit leaders, and in some cases, other youth delegates. Central to the mission of the workshop initiative is providing
opportunities for youth to engage in dialogue.

During the Summits, following the morning plenary sessions, students participate in educational activities, such as workshops and discussions, that serve as an opportunity for youths to
engage in dialogue with Nobel Peace Laureates, academics, business leaders, and fellow students.

This year, the “Leading by Example” program will put a special emphasis on peace culture and bridge-building role of youth. More than 220 students from Korea and the globe are expected to participate.

BEING NOBEL BOOK

“Being Nobel – Nobel Peace Laureates and the Courageous Pursuit of Peace” is the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates educational book.

The book serves as a “Nobelpedia” and it is frequently used as an academic resource for students pursuing studies in international affairs and human rights, both at high schools
and universities.

First released in 2012, and authored by Livia Malcangio, Director of the Institutional Relations and Protocol, book Being Nobel tells the challenging stories of recent Nobel Peace Laureates
through inspiring biographies and high-level interviews.

“Being Nobel” is distributed digitally to all participating students prior to their arrival at the Summit, and the hard copies are given at the Summit. The main intention is to help students to
prepare for high-level interactions with the Nobel Peace Laureates at workshops and interviews included in the curriculum “Leading by Example.
